Authorlink! - excellent source of information for writing workshops, conferences, etc. From the home page, a list of writing contests viewed by clicking "Writers' Resources -> Conferences, Contest, etc."

Byline - a magazine that holds monthly contests for poetry, essays, short stories, etc. These contests have low entry fees and numerous cash awards, however, the winning manuscripts are not actually published in the hardcopy or on the website.

John Labovitz's E-zine List - An extensive, categorized list of on-line magazines, with links to on-line magazines that conduct poetry and short story contests.

Nebraska Center for Writers - a great page load with links to major literary prizes & contests.  It's worth taking a look.

Open Directory Contest List - a substantial list of ezines and links that sponsor poetry and short story contests. 

Poets & Writers Magazine - A great resource for writers! ... helpful articles on getting published, extensive on-line classified section from the latest hardcopy issue that lists current poetry and short story contests, and listings of writing grants and awards, etc.

Reverie - an open forum devoted to encouraging the creative writer. It affords a meeting place between publishers of zines and writers new and established.  Reverie is sponsored in part by the NY Council on the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.

Yahoo Writing Contest List - a substantial list of ezines and links that sponsor poetry and short story contests.
